Pillar began with two young, entrepreneurially-minded friends, Chazaya and Josiah. The goal was straight-forward - start a business. Not just any business, but something they really believed in. The line of thought that brought Pillar Coffee Roasters into existence was simply, ”Stick to what you know.” Josiah had worked in coffee for years at every level one could at a specialty coffee shop and roastery, as well as had worked in a larger, more corporate-styled coffee company. Chazaya had never worked in coffee, knew nothing about coffee, and never originally liked it, but he knew marketing and how to talk to people and loved doing so. Having been introduced to genuinely good coffee, Chazaya jumped on-board with this idea and developed a passion for it. Combining their different-but-complimentary skills and personalities, Pillar Coffee Roasters was born.
